Duties: 

 

Work with the Consul on business development, tourism promotion, promoting cultural exchange, expatriate affairs, certification of documents for use in the Slovak Republic, and help citizens of the Slovak Republic. Furthermore, interns also expected to aid the Consul in economics-based work/research.

The Consul: 

​

Mr. Stanislav Janšta succeeded Ms. Cecilia Rokusek as the Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic in Florida during 2018. As Honorary Consul, Mr. Jansta's duties include trade development, tourism promotion, cultural exchange facilitation, notarization of documents for use in the Slovak Republic, the assistance of Slovak citizens visiting South Florida, and compatriot affairs. Since 2009, Mr. Jansta has been a Professor of Accounting and Auditing at Florida International University, where he has not only effectively instructed hundreds of students on how to learn complex material in order to advance academically, but also personally guides and mentors them through the recruiting process and subsequent years of employment in a highly competitive South Florida market. The Consul also works for an accounting firm in Coral Gables, Florida where he works with and advises larger firms on economics-based matters.

Former Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic in Florida Ms. Cecili Rousek served as Honorary Consul for ten years before succeeding the position to Mr. Janšta in 2018. Ms. Rousek currently serves as the Provost and Chief Executive Officer at Larkin University in Miami, Florida. In addition to serving as Florida’s Slovak Honorary Consul for the past 10 years, she has established many academic affiliations with institutions in the Czech and Slovak Republics, in several other European countries, and in South Korea. Prior to her current position, Ms. Rokusek has held various roles at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, Winona State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Governors State University, University of South Dakota School of Medicine, and Mount Marty College.
